Work experience gives young, aspiring lawyers the chance to get their foot in the door, as well as earning some CV boosting experience.

However, a blanket guideline from the Law Society does not adequately cover all types of work experience. A secondary school student looking for a weeks work over the summer is a far different case to desperate for work law students or LPC graduates being drafted in for weeks or months to carry out essentially 'free' work. The former case arguably doesn't or shouldn't need to be paid, the latter case definitely does.
