If people do not trust their institutions then society has a big problem.
What we can do as individuals is our own small contribution to building trust with those we deal with.
Doing that is not out of our reach but is not easy either.
How can we build trust?
Be willing to give without always being clear what you are going to get.
Do what you say.
If it goes wrong and it's your fault, apologise.
Think how the other person is feeling and how the situation looks from their perspective.
Trust is a good thing and we need to build it.
We cannot change what people think of the Government but we can change what they think of us.
The 2017 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals that trust is in crisis around the world. The general population’s trust in all four key institutions — business, government, NGOs, and media — has declined broadly, a phenomenon not reported since Edelman began tracking trust among this segment in 2012.
