I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where dogs/hamsters/rabbits were part of the family and our home was empty without them. However, it is very clear that times are changing.

My ideal would be to own my own house and be able to have a household full of rescue pets. That however, is a far cry from the reality of life for a millennial. Getting on the housing ladder is near impossible then when you finally do, the average work live balance means that taking care of a pet would be extremely difficult. Because of that I can see why the number of brits with pets is fast declining.
