Carrying on with a northern theme after commenting previously on North-Shoring, it's interesting to see combined the Northern Powerhouse's economy would rank 21st in the world.
Obviously this could only come to fruition when the infrastructure is in place to connect all cities, which would hopefully create synergy across the north to enable businesses to work together.
The process of devolution and return of power and money to the north will enable northerners to determine their own futures, this can only help the Northern Powerhouse's cause. However this should not further any north / south divide, but look to boost the country's economy as a whole.
The regional head of commercial property company Colliers International says the four key cities which make up the Northern Powerhouse would rank its economy 21st in the world if it was a country in its own right – ahead of Denmark and Sweden. Andrew McFarlane, head of Colliers in the North West, was hailing the performance of his company in Annual Regional Review, in which he said the cities, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield were coming closer together.
